FAWB Biofilter Opened at Monash

On 17 October 2006 Mr Matt Viney MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Innovation and Industry, officially launched the Facility for Advancing Water Biofiltration, FAWB, and opened a new trial facility for biofilter gardens that collects and filters stormwater at the Clayton campus of Monash University.

The Facility for Advancing Water Biofiltration, FAWB, is a joint venture between Monash University and the consulting firm Ecological Engineering – under the auspices of the Victorian Government’s Science Technology and Innovation Initiative. The Facility undertakes research and development of innovative technologies centred on the use of plants and soil for removal of pollutants from stormwater and wastewater.
